Reverend Peter writes;
Dear Friends
I was talking to a couple today about the harvest being 'bought in' in
Edwalton and the way, particularly when the weather had been a bit
dicey, in which the village pulled togerher to get it safely in.
Now we just see great trailers rumbling up Melton Road.
Though the weather has been pretty disappointing this summer, I have
been struck how well the crops have stood up to the wind and rain.
Certainly there have been some bumper crops from the garden. The runner
beans just went on and on! and now we have the apple harvest.
It is a year today that Lehman Brother's Bank collapsed and still the
economic future reamins uncertain. For some it has been a year of
health worries, for others there has been job insecurity.
Against that background the harvest reminds us what a wonderful world
God has made where all our needs are so generously met. Despite our
uncertaincies, God keeps his promise that as long as time exists, there
will be spring-time and harvest.
Yours truly,
Revd. Peter.
